Join the Northern Ontario and Northwestern Quebec Regenerative Agriculture Program

About the Program

Are you an oat producer in Northern Ontario or Northwestern Quebec? Join us in cultivating a more sustainable future for your farm and our communities! The Northern Ontario & Northwestern Quebec Regenerative Agriculture Program, aligned with PepsiCo's Pep+ initiative, is offering oat producers the opportunity to adopt regenerative agricultural practices on-farm. In partnership with a team of agronomists, data collected will showcase the impacts of sustainable agricultural practice implementation on oat production in the north.

How it Works

  • Step One: Express interest in participating in the project! Reach out and sign up. www.farmnorth.com or contact Co-op Regionale. 
  • Step Two: Verification Process
  •   Team will work with the farmer to ensure current practices align with the projects goals. 
  • Farmers will be enrolled in Measurement Reporting Verification (MRV): In collaboration with an agronomist, data such as soil health and implemented practice data will be tracked. 
  • Step Three: Sell your oats to an approved elevator
  •   Koch Farrns Agri-Sales Inc.
  •   Co-op Regionale
  • Step Four: Receive a minimum of $15/acre in Spring 2026. 

 

Declared Practices

A minimum of $15/acre is available for implementing declared practices. Reach out to program contacts for more details. 

Established Industry Practices Premium Practices

Improved 4R Practices: Proper nitrogen amount use, proper phosphate incorporation, staggered nitrogen application

Improved Soil Protection: Low or no-till, leave crop residue on field

Cover Crop & Field Biodiversity: Use of cover crops between two crops, allow seed drifting to produce cover crop

Improved 4R Practices: Use of stable nitrogen products, variable rate application of fertilizer

Rotation Length: 4+ crop rotation

Cover Crop & Field Biodiversity: Plant dual (or more) cover crop between two crops, establish forage crop under oats, plant unproductive grounds into a perennial crop, hedgerow or pollinator strip
