Food Sovereignty as a Movement

In 2025, delegates from around the world gathered in Kandy, Sri Lanka for the 3rd Global Nyéléni Forum on Food Sovereignty to dream up collective visions for food sovereignty. This event brings these conversations home to Northwestern Ontario. At a time of growing uncertainty, and growing possibility, this is an opportunity to connect global movements to local realities, and to explore how we organize for change together. This talk is part of Food Sovereignty Across Scales: Global Movements, Local Action, a collaborative series put on by the Food Action Network of Northwestern Ontario, the Ecological Farmers Association of Ontario, the National Farmers Union of Ontario, Gaagige Zaagibigaa, and the Thunder Bay District Health Unit. This series is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen food sovereignty, community leadership, and regional collaboration across Northwestern Ontario. Whether you’re new to this work or already involved, you’re invited to be part of it. You don’t need prior knowledge to attend, just curiosity and a willingness to engage. OMAFA Northern Breakfast Meeting and Crop Report

This year's Northern breakfast meeting and crop report with OMAFA will be held virtually on May 13th at 8:30 Eastern, 7:30 Central. Meetings for each location will occur every second week. Venture North Bay Pitch
